- सावित्रीबाई फुले का जन्म 3 जनवरी 1831 को महाराष्ट्र के सातारा जिले मे हुआ था और सावित्रीबाई फुले एक कवियत्री होने के साथ एक समाजसेविका और एक शिक्षक भी थी।
- सावित्रीबाई फुले के पिता का नाम खांडोजी नेवसे पाटिल तथा उनकी माता का नाम लक्ष्मीबाई था।
- सावित्रीबाई का विवाह सन 1840 में 10 वर्ष की उम्र में ज्योतिराव फूले जी के साथ हुआ था और ज्योतिराव फूले उस समय 12 वर्ष के थे।
- सावित्रीबाई फुले ने अपने पति ज्योतिराव फूले के साथ मिलकर लड़कियो के लिए 18 स्कूले खोले, जहा पहला बालिका विद्यायल सन 1848 को महाराष्ट्र के पुणे मे खोला गया था।
- सावित्रीबाई फूले को विद्यालय खोलने के लिए बहुत सी कठिनाइयों का सामना करना पड़ा था, उस समय इसके लिए लोग उन पर पत्थर फेंककर मारते थे और उनके ऊपर गन्दगी भी फेंका करते थे।
- जिस समय सावित्रीबाई फूले ने लड़कियों के लिए स्कूल खोला था, उस समय लड़कियो को घर से निकलने तथा पढाई – लिखाई करने पर सख्त पांबदी हुआ करती थी।
- सावित्रीबाई फूले ने 19 वीं सदी में अपने पति ज्योतिराव फूले के साथ मिलकर छुआछूत, सतीप्रथा, बाल विवाह, विधवा विवाह जैसी कुरीतियों के विरुद्ध आवाज उठायी थी।
- सावित्रीबाई फूले देश की पहली अध्यापिका होने के साथ ही वह नारी मुक्ति आंदोलन की पहली नेता भी थीं।
- सावित्रीबाई फूले ने अपने पति ज्योतिराव फूले के साथ मिलकर 28 जनवरी 1853 को गर्भवती बलात्कार पीडि़तों के लिए बाल हत्या प्रतिबंधक गृह की स्थापना की थी।
- एक विधवा ब्राह्मण महिला काशीबाई गर्भवती थी और वह आत्महत्या करने जा रही थी, तब सावित्रीबाई फूले ने उन्हें आत्महत्या करने से रोका और अपने घर लाकर काशीबाई की डिलीवरी करवायी और बच्चे का नाम यशवंत रखा और उन्होंने यशवंत को गोद ले लिया।

- सावित्रीबाई फूले ने यशवंत को पाल – पोसकर बड़ा किया और उनकी डॉक्टर की पढ़ाई पूरी करवा कर उन्हें डॉक्टर बनाया था।
- सावित्रीबाई फूले और उनके पति ज्योतिराव फूले ने अपना सारा जीवन समाज सेवा करने मे व्यतीत किया था।
- दुनिया भर में लगातार विकसित नारीवादी सोच की ठोस बुनियाद सावित्रीबाई और उनके पति ज्योतिराव फूले ने मिलकर ही डाली थी।
- जब ज्योतिराव फुले जी की मृत्यु सन् 1890 को हुई, उस वक्त सावित्रीबाई फूले ने अपने पति के अधूरे कार्यों को पूरा करने का संकल्प लिया था।
- प्लेग मरीजों की देखभाल करते समय सावित्रीबाई फूले की भी अचानक तबियत खराब हो गयी थी और 10 मार्च 1897 को उनकी भी मृत्यु हो गयी।

- Savitribai Phule was born on January 3, 1831 in Satara district of Maharashtra and Savitribai Phule was a poet as well as a social worker and a teacher.
- Savitribai Phule’s father’s name was Khandoji Nevse Patil and her mother’s name was Lakshmibai.
- Savitribai was married to Jyotirao Phule in 1840 at the age of 10 and Jyotirao Phule was 12 years old at that time.
- Savitribai Phule along with her husband Jyotirao Phule opened 18 schools for girls, where the first girls school was opened in 1848 in Pune, Maharashtra.
- Savitribai Pule had to face many difficulties to open the school, at that time people used to throw stones at her and also used to throw dirt on her.
- At the time when Savitribai Phule opened a school for girls, at that time there was a strict restriction on the girls to go out of the house and study.
- In the 19th century, Savitribai Phule along with her husband Jyotirao Phule raised their voice against the evils like untouchability, sati, child marriage, widow marriage.
- Apart from being the first teacher of the country, Savitribai Phule was also the first leader of the women’s liberation movement.
- Savitribai Phule, along with her husband Jyotirao Phule, had established a Child Murder Prohibition Home for pregnant rape victims on 28 January 1853.
- A widowed brahmin woman Kashibai was pregnant and she was going to commit suicide, then Savitribai Phule prevented her from committing suicide and brought her home and got Kashibai delivered and named the child Yashwant and she adopted Yashwant.
